About Haveli Ulfat Rai
Built in the mid-1930s by Chaubey Ulfat Rai, one of the prominent Zamindars of Kamtari, Haveli Ulfat Rai carries a rich legacy of heritage and history. Once a grand ancestral mansion with 22 rooms, the Haveli stood silent for decades after the abolition of the Zamindari system.
Today, after years of careful restoration and preservation, the Haveli has been transformed into a boutique heritage hotel by Prashant Kumar Chaturvedi, grandson of Chaubey Ulfat Rai. Based in New York, Prashant holds degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Columbia University, and divides his time between Manhattan and Kamtari. Restoration of the Haveli began in February 2023 as a family-led effort, with the support of his wife, Ratu, former Managing Editor of TIME magazine, and their daughter, Priyanka, who heads an AI-focused investment firm in New York.
Every corner of the Haveli reflects old-world charm blended with modern comfort, offering guests a unique experience far away from the crowded city life.
